New Executive Director for Activity Haven ~ by Thom Whitby

Janet Buchanan, Executive Director Activity Haven“I have lived in the Peterborough area for over 20 years and have made many connections along the way,” said Janet Buchanan, newly appointed Executive Director of Activity Haven, “and I look forward to sharing them with this organization.”

“I am very excited with the thoughts and possibilities that come with beginning a new journey in my life,” she added, “and sharing my expertise and experiences with the staff, the volunteers, and the almost 1,700 members at Activity Haven.”

Bill Charters, president of the Activity Haven Board of Directors, announced today that it is with great enthusiasm that he, and the rest of the Board, presents Janet Buchanan as the new Executive Director.

“Following an extensive search for that perfect piece of the puzzle, we know that we have undoubtedly found the perfect candidate in Janet,” said Bill. “She brings years of experience working with seniors and volunteers, years in management, in addition to teaching Educational and Recreational Programming at Fleming College,” he added.

Buchanan joins Activity Haven directly from Centennial Place in Millbrook, where she has been employed for the past 17 years where she embraced the title of Director of Resident and Family Services. Prior to Centennial Place she spent a year working at two of AON’s retirement homes. From managing their Life Enrichment department to coordinating many new programs and special events, Janet plans on using her knowledge and expertise to grow with, and care for Activity Haven.

“I am enthusiastic and have a strong desire to make a difference for our local seniors,” she said. “I believe that every road that I have taken, every slice of experience that I have gained, and every position that I have held have all lead to this position. I am eager and motivated to be associated with such a great organization as Activity Haven Seniors Recreation Centre.”
