About Activity Haven

Activity Haven is a Seniors Recreation Centre that welcomes all people who are 50 and better. It was founded in 1975 by some sixty retirees and operated in co-operation with the City of Peterborough Recreation Division and the Ministry of Community Services. Our membership has grown steadily over the past 41 years to approximately 1,300 members in 2016. Since 1985, the main centre and office have been located at Queen Alexander Community Centre, 180 Barnardo Avenue in Peterborough Ontario. This building was formerly a public school and was built over one hundred and twenty years ago. Queen Alexander Centre Peterborough

Queen Alexander Centre PeterboroughWe support our organization in a number of ways. We conduct fundraising dinners for Valentine’s Day, Easter, Thanksgiving, Oktoberfest, Italian Christmas, Christmas Dinner, and a Remembrance Day Luncheon.

Membership to the club is $20.00 annually. Members also pay a $2.00 user fee for each program they attend. These funds all go to support our organization. Some of our programs also have an instructor fee. Activity Haven also receives funding from the City of Peterborough and the Senior Secretariat for our Elderly Person Centre.

Our club could not function without our wonderful volunteers. We have over 200 volunteers who help in all areas of the club.

Our club gives our members a place to belong, to be with people their own age and to share their interests and their talents, to have fun, to laugh and to enjoy themselves.
